Emergency Items You Should Have in Your Car For Winter

Headed out on a trip this winter? Being prepared is the greatest defense you have against icy roads. While a car warranty and roadside assistance are crucial should something go wrong, having a few emergency items in tow is never a bad idea.

Here are the top ten things you should keep in your car to help ensure you have the supplies needed to wait out a worst case scenario:

  • Bottled Water
  • Food
  • Warm Hat and Gloves
  • Blankets
  • Tire Chains
  • Flashlights
  • Food
  • Ice Scraper
  • Small Shovel
  • Blankets
  • Cell Phone
  • Pocket Heaters

Making sure your gas tank is always above the halfway mark is a start. Another great idea is letting people know where you are at when you are out and about. This is especially important during long drives. If you happen to get stuck or your vehicle suffers a break down, do not get out of your vehicle.
You should also avoid over-exerting yourself. This means trying to push your car or shoveling the snow away from your car. Never risk injury or a heart attack. In fact, doing these types of jobs will make you sweaty and that is the last thing you want in the dead of winter. Make sure youare well-equipped for anything, even if that simply means a phone to call for help.
